DiGRA Nordic 2012

The Creation of Game Cultures project co-organised a major game studies conference, the DiGRA Nordic 2012 – “Local and Global: Games in Culture and Society” in 6-8 June 2012, in Tampere, Finland. There were over 130 registered participants, from more than 10 different countries around the world. With three days of academic program, the conference broke new ground by including important interdisciplinary elements, most importantly a dedicated gambling studies track. There were 14 paper sessions in the program, presenting the findings from 24 full papers that were accepted through double-blind peer-review. There were also workshops, panels and roundtables in the program. In addition, a major exhibition, “Finnish Games Then and Now” was organised alongside the event, as well as social program, excusions and game activities. We want to thank all who made this event such as success! More from the conference web pages at:
